  Sereda Vita Ivanivna - Head of Chemical Technology of Macromolecular Compounds Department, Ph.D. in Technical Science

The Department of ChTHMC trains specialists in “Chemistry and Engineering”.
Graduates of this department receive “Chemical Technology of Macromolecular Compounds”
speciality which in its turn has two specialized fields:
- Technology of Polymers and Explosive Substances;
- Technology of Polymer Materials and Alternative Fuel.

  Khudolei Heorhii Mykhailovych - Head of System Engineering and Information Technology Department, Ph.D. in Technical Science

During training students study the theory and practice of building hardware (including foundations of data collection, transmission and processing, information theory, theory of automatic control, optimal and adaptive systems, components and devices of automation and control systems, microprocessor systems and etc.) and software including algorithmic languages and programming, computer graphics, software management systems, etc.

  Tur Oleksandr Mykolaevich – Head of Department of Economics and Management, Ph.D. in Economics

This department trains specialists in such areas as:
- Enterprise Economics;
- Finance;
- Marketing;
- Management of Organizations.
Graduates work in the planning and financial departments of industrial and commercial enterprises, innovative companies, carry out analysis of the effectiveness of project implementation, new techniques, technologies, remuneration system.

The centre of extramural and distance learning was established in December 2009.
The centre of extramural and distance learning is a teaching, research and administrative subdivision of the Shostka Institute which is a part of the separate units of SumDU. The centre conducts organizational work to prepare students for the educational qualification levels of “Bachelor" and "Specialist", to enhance professional development. It administers educational, teaching and scientific research of the departments, which it unites.
The center has a strong material base, modern scientific methods of teaching, highly skilled staff and experience in providing quality educational services.
Training is focused on progressive modern approaches to organizing and conducting educational process based on local and international experience of education in accordance with the Bologna Declaration. Regular and planned training of lecturers in the base university, their constant practical work, the use of the best modern European educational technologies ensure the adequacy of the content of training with modern economic realities, as well as compliance with international requirements for quality education. System and purposeful training meet current and future requirements of the labor market. The teachers use methods of practical advice, solve the problem of adaptation of the knowledge and skills of students to the real needs of enterprises, organizations and institutions.
Educational plans and work programs are formed by two main criteria: first - market demand for specialists of the profile, and the second - forecasting demand for specialists taking into account global trends in the economy. Education must always precede practice. Therefore, all programs are rich enough and use the most modern methods of both theoretical and practical training.
The centre actively initiated and implemented such effective methods of conducting practical classes as subject and interdisciplinary training, business simulations , case methods. This is kind of creative laboratory for testing new educational technologies and techniques. Dynamic is the process of transition of lecturers to the new format of lectures with the use of multimedia tools and elements of distance learning and communication during the intersession period. In fact, we gradually move to a permanent contact between teachers and students using the one -line. TSZDFN provides students with textbooks, teaching materials (printed and electronic), has a spacious complex scientific library, reading rooms, computer labs, instructional and research laboratories.

Main tasks of the Extramural Department:

1. Taking into account the demands of practice by working out work the programs for studying based on international experience.
2. Focus on deep professional training under the condition of maintaining a high level of theoretical knowledge.
3. Mastering modern methods of teaching that can provide flexibility of the educational process in terms of time and place of the meeting, choice of material, taking into account the individuality and needs of the student.
4. Providing clear practical orientation of studying, training of the administrative staff capable of creative solving problems arising in the process of companies, firms and organizations business.

Chemical-technological College named after Ivan Kozhedub

Chemical-technological College as an educational institution was established on the basis of the Shostka gunpowder plant in autumn 1920.
Today Chemical-technological College named after I. Kozhedub is an educational institution accredited at Level 1, which has a license for the implementation of educational activities in terms of secondary education, trains professionals of 9 specialties at full-time and correspondence departments. Based on incomplete secondary education professionals of the following specialties are trained:
"Installation and maintenance of facilities and systems of automation of technological production, processing of materials on machines and automatic lines", "Installation and maintenance of electrical equipment of enterprises and civil buildings , maintenance and repair of equipment of chemical and oil and gas refining industry", "Manufacture of solid chemicals", "Production of equipment withhigh-energy and high -speed connections", "Enterprise economy", ”Accounting”, "Commodity and Commerce”.
The correspondence department trains specialists in: ”Accounting”, "Enterprise economy", "Production of solid chemicals", "Maintenance and repair of equipment of enterprises of chemical and oil and gas industry", "Installation, maintenance of tools and systems of automation of technological production".
The material base of the college consists of two buildings, a hostel, training workshops. There are well- equipped classrooms and laboratories, 2 computer labs, two gyms, a sports ground. Students have the opportunity of using a reading-room. The library fundis more than 83,000 copies.
The staff of the college is sure of their future. The college has a rich and vibrant history, and ahead - new and important tasks in the noble cause of education of youth.

Library of Shostka Institute of Sumy State University

Library of the Shostka Institute of Sumy State University is a research - educational,information and reference structure of the institution, which organizes its activities according to all regulatory guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine . Library of Chemical-technological College named after I. Kozhedub is a structural subdivision of the library of SSU.
Total area is over 1,000 m2.
The library includes: 2 delivery desks, 3 reading rooms , 4 book depositories, a delivery desk in the hostel.
The activity of the library aims at providing information for educational process and assisting the students in mastering the curriculum .
The number of users on a single register is over of 3500, with all structural units catering 4500 users during a year.
On average 160,000 copies of books are borrowed and the number of attendance is 75,000.

Department of Accounting and Reporting

Department of Accounting and Reporting is a structural subdivision of Shostka Institute of Sumy State University. The purpose of accounting and financial reporting is to provide users with complete, true and unbiased information about the financial situation , results of operations and cash flows of the institution for decision making.
In its activities the employees of the accounting and reporting subdivision are governed by the Constitution and laws of Ukraine as well as by the Verkhovna Rada regulations and standards of accounting and other legal acts of Ukraine . All areas of Department of Accounting and Reporting are computerized : payroll, banking and cash transactions, accounting of material assets,etc.

Department of Computer Service

Department of Computer Service of ShI SumDU performs all work on maintenance of computer equipment. Due to the proper level of professional development of the staff all kinds of work and services are performed in the shortest possible time.
To any problem that arises in the process of using computers, the staff applies a complex approach which eliminates both the problem itself and its reason and consequences.
In its submission the Department has a copy centre that is equipped with high quality machines for printing. The centre is able to print widescreen models, photos, drawings , brochures , etc.
At the moment, the main task of the department is setting servers and network equipment, empowering the copy centre, and the development of computer infrastructure of building 4 of the Institute.

Department of pre-university education

The department is engaged
- establishing contacts with district and city departments of education, schools, other educational establishments of the region for carrying out vocational guidance, advertising and informational work;
- creation and effective activity on the basis preparatory courses with different term of training and direction;
- organization of specialized classes at schools in accordance with the specialties of the university; (link to profile class schedules)
- introduction of other forms of educational work on preparation of future entrants for the preparation of EIT;
- organization and holding of Open Doors Day, excursions, involvement of high school students in participation in scientific, cultural, mass and sports events of the Institute
